Pauline Tarrant Consulting is committed to respecting human rights and operating in an ethical manner to mitigate the risk and prospect of modern slavery within the workplace.

 

The Anti-Modern Slavery Policy acts in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) and outlines the responsibilities of Pauline Tarrant Consulting to ensure any potential modern slavery risks are addressed.

 

Company Profile

 

Pauline Tarrant Consulting Pty Ltd (PTC) was founded in 2013 in order to help people and organisations perform at their best. We are an interdisciplinary people and culture practice providing joined-up thinking to proactively solve people and culture issues. Clients align well with the underlying purpose, mission and values of the organisation and as a result many not for profit are included in the portfolio.

Pauline Tarrant Consulting is dedicated to:

 

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and legislation and operating in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth).

  • Providing employees with the appropriate training to raise awareness and understanding of modern slavery and the threat it poses to our operations.  

  • Ensuring transparency in our operations and approach to addressing modern slavery in our supply chains.

  • Mitigating the risk of modern slavery in the operations of our organisation.

  • Providing all workers access to the appropriate reporting channels to report any suspected cases of modern slavery within our operations or those of our clients and/or suppliers.

  • Eradicating the actual or potential risk of modern slavery in the organisation and its operations.

  • Improving our data insights to assess the performance of our current modern slavery risk approach more effectively.

 

Definition – What is Modern Slavery?

 

Modern slavery is defined as the act of depriving an individual of their fundamental human rights and freedoms for financial benefit through the use of coercion, deception or threats.

 

Eight forms of serious exploitation are outlined in the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) including:

  • Slavery

  • Forced labour

  • Trafficking in persons

  • Debt bondage

  • Forced marriage

  • Deceptive recruiting for labour or services

  • Child labour

  • Servitude

Any conduct of such nature that takes place in relation to an individual’s employment with Pauline Tarrant Consulting or in our operations is strictly prohibited.

 

​A worker has the right to terminate his or her employment at any time, provided reasonable notice is given. No worker will be subject to forced, bonded, indentured or compulsory labour. All work must be voluntary.

Risks of Modern Slavery in Our Operations and Supply Chains

The main modern slavery risks identified at Pauline Tarrant Consulting include:

  • Engaging employees.

  • Delivery deadlines that may require suppliers to quickly expand the size of their workplace or engage in excessive hours of work.

 

Our Actions to Address Key Modern Slavery Risks

We have implemented the following processes to proactively address the modern slavery risks within our organisation:

  • Educating employees on the topic of modern slavery.

  • Publishing this anti-modern slavery statement publicly.

  • Considering the risks within our supplier selection process.

  • Maintaining long-term business relationships with manufacturers and suppliers: establishing and maintaining long term business relationships with our suppliers fosters trust and ensures a commitment to ongoing advancement.

  • Mapping the supply chain: we regularly invest time and resources into mapping our supply chain to determine how our suppliers perform in regard to social and environmental activities

Assessing the Effectiveness of Our Actions

The following key performance indicators have been established to assess our success in preventing modern slavery in our organisation and supply chains:

  • Conducting an informal annual review of major suppliers to assess compliance risks.

Consultation

All employees of Pauline Tarrant Consulting were consulted in the development and formation of this Statement. To ensure all employees understand modern slavery and are aware of the appropriate reporting avenues, annual training is available and accessible for all employees to complete.

The 7 mandatory criteria require every statement to:

  • Identify the reporting entity·        

  • describe the reporting entity’s structure, operations and supply chains

  • describe the risks of modern slavery practices in the operations and supply chains of the reporting entity and any entities it owns or controls

  • describe the actions taken by the reporting entity and any entities it owns or controls to assess and address these risks, including due diligence and remediation processes

  • describe how the reporting entity assesses the effectiveness of these actions

  • describe the process of consultation with any entities the reporting entity owns or controls (a joint statement must also describe consultation with the entity giving the statement), and

  • provide any other relevant information.
